Tarleton State Tennis adds Abigail Wild as assistant coach

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Head coach has announced the addition of Abigail Wild as an assistant coach to Tarleton State Tennis.

Wild, a former All-Conference tennis player at Hawaii Pacific, will play a key role in developing Tarleton State's Tennis student-athletes and will have behind-the-scenes duties crucial to the program.

"Abigail is a great addition to our coaching staff," Douglas-Miron said. "She has an impressive playing resume and an excellent work ethic that will make her a great coach. I can't wait to have her on court and getting to work."

Wild spent the previous two seasons as a student-athlete competing for Hawaii Pacific, immediately helping the Sharks to a championship run. Hawaii Pacific won the PacWest title in Wild's first season with the Sharks and clinched an NCAA Division II West Regional victory to advance to the Division II Championships in Orlando, Florida. The United Kingdom native collected singles victories in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals of the 2023 Division II Championships, helping the Sharks advance to the semifinals as a team.

As a senior, Wild finished with a 7-3 singles record at the No. 1 position for the Sharks. She completed her college career ranked in the top 25 for Division II singles by the ITA en route to All-PacWest Second Team honors.

Wild was also one of 10 student-athletes to be a part of the inaugural class of the ITA Student-Athlete Council in 2023, serving as the Division II female representative.

Prior to Hawaii Pacific, Wild played collegiate tennis at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. She also had a brief stint at West Virginia State University.

"I am excited to be able to be a part of the Tarleton State family," Wild said. "I want to thank Coach Douglas-Miron and Athletic Director Steve Uryasz for this opportunity. Having played college tennis in Texas, I am excited to head back to the Lone Star State and contribute to the Purple and White."

Tarleton State Tennis continues its fall campaign in Boone, North Carolina, at the App State Invite starting Friday.
