Introducing Wayfinder: Simplify Your Navigation in Splunk SOAR

In security operations, every moment counts. Attackers move quickly, and your security team needs to be faster. In order to rapidly detect, investigate and respond to threats, your team needs to efficiently access the information you need at a moment's notice. It's essential. That's why we're pleased to introduce Wayfinder, a new feature in Splunk SOAR that streamlines navigation across the user interface and puts important data right at your fingertips-ultimately reducing mean time-to-detect (MTTD) and mean time-to-respond (MTTR).

What Is Wayfinder?

Wayfinder is a dynamic navigation tool designed to help you move around the Splunk SOAR user interface quickly and easily. By using straightforward keyboard shortcuts, you can jump directly to key incidents, automation playbooks, and other critical information without wading through multiple menus. Whether you're a seasoned user who knows exactly where you want to go or a new user exploring Splunk SOAR for the first time, Wayfinder enhances your experience by making navigation intuitive and efficient.

Key features include:

  • Keyboard-Based Navigation: Press the "." (period) key outside of a text field to open Wayfinder. Skip the menus and jump directly to what you need. To close Wayfinder, simply press the "esc" key. With Splunk SOAR version 6.3, we've also introduced predefined keyboard shortcuts to further speed up your workflow. Press the "?" key outside of a text field to view the full list of shortcuts. You can enable or disable these shortcuts in your user settings according to your preference.
  • Dynamic Discovery: Start typing, and Wayfinder will immediately present relevant events, playbooks, or pages, adjusting the results based on your input.
  • Contextual Results: Each search result includes helpful metadata, providing additional context to ensure you select the right destination quickly. For example, typing "Events" in the search bar generates a list of events with color-coded, contextual information including status and severity.
