Notable Trends

  • Three robberies reported with one still an open investigation and an arrest in one. In the arrest, the suspect elbowed and pushed an employee trying to stop the suspect from shoplifting. In another case, a man passed a note at a bank demanding cash.
  • Seven aggravated assaults reported over the last two weeks. Officers arrested suspects in five of the cases and one is still an open investigation. In one arrest, the suspect put the victim in a chokehold during a fight. In another arrest, a witness reported the suspect strangling the victim and had security footage of the suspect dropping a gun in the bushes as police arrived. It was recovered by officers. In two cases, suspects hit the victims in the head with metal pipes. A suspect was arrested in one of the cases. In another arrest, the suspect slammed the victim's head on the ground. In the last arrest, the suspect cut the victim during a physical fight.
  • Officers arrested the suspect in the rape case reported. The victim met the suspect the night of the assault.
  • One case was a commercial burglary and auto theft combined. The suspect broke into a commercial lot and stole a vehicle by driving it through the security fence. An officer was nearby and saw the vehicle driving erratically right after the suspect stole it. Thurston County Sheriff's Officer pursued it, resulting in an arrest and recovery of the vehicle.
  • Multiple bikes were stolen off porches this week. Two were E-bikes. If you must store your bike outside on your porch or in your backyard, use multiple locks. Solid steel U-locks are the most secure. If you're using a flexible lock, ensure it's 3/8 inch in diameter to make it harder to cut. Consider putting an air tag on your bike in case someone successfully defeats your locks. Pictures and serial numbers help officers return the bike to you if recovered. Quick reporting increases the chances of recovering it.
