The new HEC Montréal building, which has just turned one, is racking up honours on the international stage. This architectural jewel in our School's crown has been sparkling recently in prestigious international competitions.
SDK, the structural engineering firm that designed the Hélène Desmarais Building, received an Honourable Mention in the Mid-Rise Structures (4-15 stories) category at the annual ceremony of the 2024 ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards, which took place in Philadelphia on November 4, 2024.
Two days later, the building's architects, Provencher_Roy won the most coveted awards at the gala of the Grands Prix du Design - 17th edition, held at Plaza Centre-Ville in Montréal.
The Hélène Desmarais Building received four awards: the Platinum Winner in the Higher Education & Research Building category and three awards in the Architecture category:
The HEC Montréal building was also granted an Honourable Mention at the International Architecture Awards 2024.
And let us not forget that last September, this building received a commendation from the Commonwealth Association of Architects, in the Professional Practice (Caribbean and Americas) category, as an acknowledgement of its positive and substantial environmental impact.
All these prestigious honours cap off a successful year for the Hélène Desmarais Building, for they not only bear witness to its ability to excel on the international architectural stage, but also reward the outstanding work of the design teams who achieved a seamless integration of aesthetics, functionality and sustainability.
