Evolutionary biology: a top-level congress at the Palais des congrès de Montréal

From July 26 to 30, 2,500 biologists from all over the world gathered at the Palais des congrès de Montréal to take part in the 3rd Joint Congress on Evolutionary Biology. This year's international event was exceptional in that it brought together the world's four largest societies in the field of evolutionary biology. This event bringing together the discipline's brightest minds provided a unique platform for sharing research and fostering scientific collaboration.

Hosting this congress was much more than an honour for Montréal and Québec: it represented a strategic opportunity for the city and the province to further entrench their standing on the global scientific stage. In assembling the planet's most eminent biologists, the event abetted the emergence of international partnerships that could shape the future of evolutionary biology. Also, we should not overlook the economic spin-offs, estimated at almost $10 million.

Our team spoke to Sarah Schaack, Secretary of the Society for the Study of Evolution, about this major event, which offers researchers a valuable opportunity to share their latest discoveries, essential to understanding tomorrow's world.
