How to switch phone or broadband service

The EU (Electronic Communications Code) Regulations 2022 came into operation in Ireland on 9 June 2023 and introduced some additional consumer rights.

The best time to look for a new phone or broadband service is if you are:

  • coming to the end of your minimum contract term
  • no longer within the minimum term of your contract
  • when there is a change to your contractual conditions allowing for a right of exit without penalty
  • if you are in contract with no minimum term.

Switching Information

When you choose to switch your service, you can contact your new service provider who should take responsibility for leading the switching process and coordinating with your transferring service provider. If any issues in this process lead to you losing service, this must not exceed one working day. We have advice and information on switching phone and broadband services and switching mobile services, including porting your number.
