Warrants Issued Against Driver Of Red Nissan Involved In Fatal Hit And Run Crash

Further investigation by the MNPD Traffic Unit has led to the confirmed identification of Walter Daneris Zuniga, 39, a native of Honduras, (aka Daneri Varela) as the driver of the red Nissan Sentra responsible for Saturday evening's fatal crash on Nolensville Pike that killed 10-year-old Emily Sanchez-Ramirez and critically injured her mother while they rode in the bike lane on an electric scooter.

Investigators obtained nine warrants against Zuniga this morning, including vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and evidence tampering. Sanchez-Ramirez died Sunday as a result of her injuries from the crash. Her mother, Laura Ramirez-Gonzalez, 28, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The damaged red Nissan Sentra involved in the crash was recovered by Traffic Unit investigators at Zuniga's home on Radnor Street Monday following a Crime Stoppers tip.
Anyone with information on Zuniga's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
