PAU Empowers First Export of BUMDES Uling’s Charcoal, Setting a Benchmark for Regional Development

Banggai, 11 August 2024 - PT Panca Amara Utama (PAU), a subsidiary of ESSA Group, proudly announces its pivotal role in the first-ever export of coconut shell charcoal by BUMDES (Village-Owned Enterprise) Uling, located in Kintom Subdistrict, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi, to Sweden. This historic achievement not only underscores PAU's commitment to community empowerment but also highlights the company's strategic approach to fostering sustainable development in the regions where it operates. The successful export marks a historic moment for the village of Uling and its people, showcasing the tangible impact of PAU's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

For PAU, this event goes beyond a simple business transaction; it is a testament to the group dedication to creating long-term value for the communities around us. By facilitating the partnership between BUMDES Uling and AILESH, PAU has reinforced its commitment to driving meaningful economic growth and sustainable development. PAU's role as a bridge in this collaboration exemplifies ESSA Group mission to implement structured, sustainable, and targeted CSR programs that leave a lasting positive impact.

This success is the result of a collaborative effort involving multiple government agencies, including Dinas PMD, Dinas TPHP, the Kintom Subdistrict Head, the village head of Uling, and AILESH as the buyer, among others. Together, we have paved the way for BUMDES Uling to achieve what no other BUMDES in Banggai Regency has done-exporting a commodity internationally.

The journey does not end here. PAU is committed to supporting BUMDES Uling in its ongoing production processes, ensuring the continuous improvement of their operations. By providing financial assistance totaling IDR 100 million-of which IDR 50 million is a revolving fund-we are not only helping to sustain their business but also fostering a culture of accountability and growth. Additionally, we provide regular mentoring and monitoring to ensure the effective management of BUMDES Uling.

Understanding the importance of health and well-being, PAU has also facilitated the enrollment of BUMDES Uling members into the BPJS Employment program. This initiative ensures that they can work in optimal conditions, contributing effectively to the ongoing success of their operations.

As we share this momentous occasion with ESSA Group stakeholders, it is important to acknowledge the dynamic and challenging path that led to this inaugural shipment. PAU views these challenges as opportunities for growth and believes that embracing such processes builds transparency, mutual trust, and collaboration. The successful export of 12 tons of charcoal to Sweden is a powerful demonstration of PAU's unwavering commitment to community development and empowerment.

PAU is proud to have played a key role in this groundbreaking achievement and looks forward to continuing to drive positive change, setting a benchmark for other BUMDES in the region.
