Harding Named Judicial District Manager in District 16

Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted James Harding to the position of Judicial District Manager (JDM) in Judicial District 16, which covers Robeson, Scotland and Hoke counties. Harding will oversee 85 probation/parole officers and staff who supervise more than 600 individuals in District 16 sentenced to probation, parole or post-release supervision.

"James Harding has excelled in his nearly 25-year Community Supervision career," said Todd Ishee, secretary for the NC Department of Adult Correction. "His dedication to community safety and leadership in guiding probation/parole officers makes him a valuable member of our team."

"I am very pleased to promote James Harding. He's demonstrated great dedication during his many years of service," said Tracy K. Lee, deputy secretary for Community Supervision. "James is committed to assisting officers and also creating innovative ways to assist people successfully complete their supervision."

James Harding began his career with Community Supervision in 2001 in District 5 covering New Hanover and Pender counties. In 2007, he transferred to Cumberland County where he specialized in supervising sex offenders. Harding was promoted to chief probation/parole officer (CPPO) in 2014. He was promoted again in 2022 to assistant judicial district manager (AJDM) in District 11, covering Johnston, Harnett and Lee counties. He's been recognized for creating the "incentive closet" which allows those under supervision to select rewards for making good choices and reaching supervision milestones.

A native of Clinton, NC, Harding is a graduate of Barton College where he earned a degree in human behavior. He's currently enrolled in the DAC Correctional Leadership Development Program.
