Plimoth Patuxet Comes to the Armory

SPRINGFIELD, MA: Join museum educator Gabriel Norwood from Plimoth Patuxet Museums for his presentation, In Conflict and Alliance, New England (1620-1630). The program will be held on Saturday, August 10 at 1:00pm in the Springfield Armory National Historic Site museum classroom. Admission is free.

Explore the unique cultural landscape that emerged in the early 17th century when the first Europeans settled in what would become New England. Delve into the contentious scene in Europe these settlers were leaving, and discover how their traditions and aspirations interacted with the harsh realities of their new home along the coast.

Using contemporary writings and accurate recreations, Norwood transports us four-hundred years ago to the scene of this dynamic cultural moment. Through a wide variety of sources, Norwood will flesh out the relationship between the English and the Wampanoag, demonstrate militia battle tactics, and explore the defining events of the early colonial era.
