Utility work 8/20 - 9/20 on Auiki St. to impact traffic in Kalihi

HONOLULU, Aug. 16, 2024 - Contractors for Hawaiian Electric will perform pole foundation and underground conduit work associated with the future Auiki Substation, closing one lane of Auiki Street in Kalihi Kai starting Tuesday, Aug. 20, until Friday, Sept. 20, weekdays only from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No weekend or holiday work is anticipated.
The street closure will alternate between the mauka or makai lane of Auiki between Mary and Mokauea streets with traffic contraflowed in the open traveling lane. Motorists should expect traffic delays in the Kalihi area or use alternate routes when possible.
Safety signs and traffic cones will mark the work zone and flagmen will provide onsite traffic control. Motorist are encouraged to slow down when approaching or passing the crews at work.
