New Blog Post! Redwood City's September 2024 Homelessness Update: Successes, Challenges, and Community Involvement

We are pleased to introduce a new series on our website focused on Redwood City's ongoing efforts to address homelessness. Routinely, we will share updates that highlight key programs, community partnerships, and individual stories demonstrating the impact of our initiatives. This series aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges we face and the innovative, compassionate solutions we are implementing to build a community where all residents have a place to call home.

Our latest blog post outlines significant progress, including a notable 23% reduction in Redwood City's unsheltered homeless population from 2022 to 2024. This achievement results from a strategic and balanced approach that prioritizes both compassion for individuals experiencing homelessness and the health and safety of the broader community. The post also details our collaboration with various stakeholders-such as CalTrans, San Mateo County, non-profit organizations, and local community members-which has been instrumental in driving these results.

We invite you to read the full update here and learn more about our current strategies, recent successes, and the important role community members can play in supporting our efforts.

Additionally, we encourage you to participate in the upcoming City Council meeting on September 9, where staff will provide an update on our homelessness initiatives. Details are available on the agenda posted at www.RedwoodCity.org/CouncilMeetings (see Agenda Item 8.A. for September 9).

Your involvement is crucial in helping us create meaningful, lasting change for our community.
