LITTLE ROCK - The City of Little Rock, in partnership with Keep Little Rock Beautiful, encourages residents to participate in the annual Great Arkansas Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Murray Park.

To kick off Saturday's cleanup event, the City will announce a new emphasis on citywide beautification and launch a campaign to support additional cleanup efforts throughout Little Rock.

"It's really simple for all of us to do our part to keep Arkansas's capital city clean," said Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. "The Great Arkansas Cleanup is an excellent opportunity to volunteer and make a difference at Murray Park, but the work doesn't end there. Thanks to the leadership of Ward 4 Director Capi Peck, we are renewing our focus on cleaning up our community, and I'm excited about the announcement of our new anti-litter campaign coming Saturday."

The Great Arkansas Cleanup event starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Murray Park, 5900 Rebsamen Park Road. During the three-hour event, volunteers will work in the park and along the Arkansas River to remove litter and debris.

Keep Little Rock Beautiful will have trash bags and disposable gloves available. Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and bring their own refillable water bottles. Volunteers should RSVP to [email protected] with the number of volunteers in their groups.

While a limited supply of "litter grabbers" are available on site, volunteers are also asked to bring their own if possible. Additionally, organizers are asking boat owners to bring their watercraft to participate in river cleanup along the shoreline.

Free t-shirts will be handed out to volunteers while supplies last.
