Harshbarger & HFC Oppose Rep. Thompson's Appointment to Trump Task Force

House Freedom Caucus released a statement urging leadership to prevent Representative Bennie Thompson from being a member of the task force assigned to investigate the assassination attempt against President Donald Trump. Additionally, HFC is urging leadership to remove him from his role as Ranking Member on the House Committee on Homeland Security, citing his effort with other radical progressives to strip President Trump of his secret service protection.

Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger expressed her support for the House Freedom Caucus' position.

"Representative Bennie Thompson's actions have consistently demonstrated a disregard for President Trump's safety. His role on this task force would undermine its purpose," said Congresswoman Harshbarger. "Homeland Security and the protection of President Trump should not be partisan issues, but it shows you where today's Democrat Party is."
