Accordionist Ginny Mac to bring her distinctive sound to Country/Jazz Fusion

Ginny Mac, one of today's most vocal proponents of Western Swing, brings her distinctive sound to Cameron University's Country Jazz Fusion on Tuesday, November 5, when she'll join the CU Jazz Ensemble and the Lawton Jazz Orchestra for a night of country and jazz classics. Country Jazz Fusion will start at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre.

Tickets purchased at the door are $10 for adult and $8 for senior citizens, members of the military and non-CU students. Cameron University students, faculty and staff receive one free admission with their CU I.D. Tickets can be reserved by calling the box office at 580-581-2346. The Cameron University Jazz Ensemble, comprised primarily of CU music students, will open the concert with the big band favorite, "Little Brown Jug," followed by "How High the Moon" featuring Lillie Wright on vocals. Vocalist Grace Norbury will be featured on "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square." The ensemble will present "Sabor de Cuba" before welcoming Ginny Mac, who will join the group for Western Swing favorites including "You Belong to Me" and "Teach Me Tonight."

After the Lawton Jazz Orchestra, made up of community members, opens its portion of the program with "Deep in the Heart of Texas," the ensemble will be joined by Mac for another entertaining set of Western Swing favorites.

Dr. JD Little, associate professor of music, is the conductor of both ensembles.

Hailing from Fort Worth, Ginny Mac brings a fresh and exciting twist to vocal and instrumental with a repertoire that covers vintage country, Western swing, jazz, gypsy jazz, Parisian-style accordion and everything in between.

The talented vocalist/instrumentalist has toured with Asleep at the Wheel, Brave Combo, Pat Green, Mike Dillon, The Texas Playboys under the direction of Tommy Allsup and Leon Rausch, and many others.

Members of the Cameron University Jazz Ensemble are Isaiah Moncrief and Mykayla Waller, Altus; Jacob Shaffer and Cynthia Vansant, Cache; Darien King, Duncan; and Owen Ellis and Melody Veloz, Elgin; and Irmtraud Bryant, Meers. They are joined by Jamie Butler, Eddie Clark, Collin Fallon, Reece Henderson, Hayley Kousman, Gabriel Mace, Grace Norbury, Alyssa Price, Nicholas Raso, Tavien Todd and Lillie Wright, all of Lawton.

Members of the Lawton Jazz Orchestra include Monty Booker, K Kay Alsobrook, Jarom Christenson, Derik Daubenspeck, Brian Francis, Pam Francis, Derek Griner, David Jackson, Dr. JD Little, Jeremiah Phillips, Bill Price, Daniel Rogers and Ian Stark.
