Mike Rogers Wants to Rip Away Benefits from Michigan Seniors and Spike Costs by Slashing Social Security and Medicare

LANSING - Today's anniversary of the Social Security Act being signed into law is a stark reminder that Mike Rogers supports toxic plans to jeopardize Social Security and Medicare. Rogers wants to slash Social Security and transform Medicare into a voucher program, ripping away benefits Michiganders worked a lifetime to earn and spiking health care costs.

"Mike Rogers supports ripping away Michiganders' hard-earned benefits and spiking costs by slashing Social Security and Medicare. It's clear that Rogers is only in this race to enrich himself and his wealthy special interest backers, even if it means Michiganders have to pay the price," said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Sam Chan.

Rogers has a long record of putting working families last. He "suggested that the retirement age may need to be increased," voted for a federal budget plan that would have caused seniors to "spend more out-of-pocket on healthcare expenses" and voted against measures to lower the cost of prescription drugs.
