The Passing out Parade of the Hermann Loos and De Soysa Challenge Trophies 2024 was held at the NCC Training Centre, Rantambe, on Sunday, Nov 10.
The event was graced by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage as the Chief Guest, Army media says.
The National Cadet Corps (NCC), Sri Lanka's school cadet training entity, operates under the purview of the Ministry of Defence together with the Ministry of Education.
According to Army media, the Director of NCC, Brigadier Sudantha Fonseka, welcomed the Chief Guest at the entrance and accorded him a Guard Turnout. Subsequently, the Army Commander awarded medals and certificates to the achievers.
Army media reports, Cadets of Ananda College, Colombo 10, won the first place in the Male category and received the Hermann Loos Trophy for the Best Platoon in the Island for the year 2024. Meanwhile, Maliyadeva Girls' College, Kurunegala, won the De Soyza Trophy for the Best Platoon in the Female category.
Clergy, Chiefs of Staff from the Army and Air Force, Ministry of Defence officials, the Bangladesh Defence Attaché, Senior Tri-Service Officers, Retired Army Senior Officers, Police Officers, officials from the Ministry of Education, Principals, teachers, parents, cadets and a large group of civilians were also present at the ceremony.
