CENTRAL/ STATE LABOUR LAWS UPDATES

Exemption to Information Technology enabled services and Information Technology establishments in Telangana

The Telangana Government has issued a notification exempting all ITES and Information Technology Establishments from certain provisions of the Telangana shops and establishments Act, 1988, for a period of four years.

IT, ITES and other knowledge-based industries exempted from Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act in Karnataka

The Karnataka Government has issued a notification exempting IT, ITES, Startups, Animation, Gaming, Computer Graphics, Telecom, BPO, KPO and other knowledge-based industries from the applicability of Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946 for a further period of five years subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

The Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance (Amendment) Scheme, 2024

Where an employer defaults in payment of any contribution to the Insurance Fund or in the payment of any charges, the Central Provident Fund Commissioner or any authorized officer may recover damages from the employer at the rate of one percent of the arrear of contribution per month.

The Employees' Provident Funds (Amendment) Scheme, 2024

Where an employer defaults in payment of any contribution to the fund, or in the transfer of accumulations required to be transferred or payment of charges, the Central Provident Fund Commissioner or any authorized officer may recover damages from the employer at the rate of one percent of the arrear of contribution per month.

TNPCB (Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board) Handbook on EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) Guidelines for Plastic Packaging

The handbook is aimed at empowering the businesses by helping them in fulfilling their obligations smoothly under the provisions of the PWM (Plastic waste management) Rules.

INDUSTRY RELATED LAWS UPDATES

Approval requirements waived for setting up Wind Turbines in SEZs and EOUs

Renewable Energy plants located inside Special Economic Zone ("SEZ") or Export Oriented Unit ("EOU") and supplying power exclusively for production plants of Green Hydrogen or its derivatives, located inside an SEZ or set up as an EOU is exempted from the purview of Approved List of Models & Manufacturers (ALMM) for Solar PV Modules.

Remove the claim of 100% fruit juices from the label and advertisement of fruit juices

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has made it mandatory for all Food Business Operators (FBOs) to remove the claim of '100% fruit juices' from the labels and advertisements of reconstituted fruit juices on an immediate basis and also exhaust all existing printed packaging materials before 1st September, 2024.

Honey Grading and Marking Rules, 2024

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has notified the Honey grading and marking Rules, 2024 in supersession of the Honey grading and marking Rules, 2008. As per the new Rules, honey will now be graded based on the parameters related to the quality specified in the Schedule.

The Excise department is mandatorily seeking an affidavit regarding compliance of Fire safety measures from the restaurants/eateries having area less than 90 sq. mtrs.

Advertising Agencies to submit Self-Declaration Certificate

The Hon'ble Supreme Court has issued a directive mandating all advertisers or Advertising Agencies to submit a 'Self-Declaration Certificate' before publishing or broadcasting any advertisement.
