Clarksville City Council honors Queen City College, and founder, Ralph Payne

Mayor Joe Pitts and the Clarksville City Council, at the request of Ward 3 Councilperson DaJuan Little, formally thanked Queen City College and its founder, Ralph Payne, for exceptional community service, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, during the council's monthly executive session.

Payne was presented a proclamation by Mayor Pitts and Councilperson Little. In it, Payne was recognized for being a vital force in the education and professional development of countless individuals in the barbering and cosmetology industries.

Queen City College, established by Payne on March 5, 1984, has, for more than 40 years, "served as a beacon of opportunity," the proclamation said, training over 4,000 students and equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and ethical foundation necessary to succeed in their careers.

Payne's vision for Queen City College was not only to teach technical skills, but to create an environment of inclusivity, support, and personal growth, where students could thrive as individuals and professionals.

Queen City College is a family-driven institution, embodying the values of integrity, community, and commitment to excellence.

Through partnerships with local organizations such as Diamond Ministries, Queen City College has expanded its influence beyond education, offering vital services such as food, clothing, and spiritual support to people in need.
