EU Concludes Capacity-Building Trainings for Civil Society Organisations in Uzbekistan

"These hands-on, practical trainings were specifically designed for a diverse array of CSOs in Uzbekistan, each with at least one year of project development experience. This EU-led training provided our civil society partners with in-depth skills to manage projects effectively, combining international best practices with a focus on local needs. Such trainings eventually also empower them to become more capable leaders and advocates for inclusive and sustainable social development. It was genuinely encouraging to see strong interest from both well-established civil society actors and smaller local organizations, highlighting the value and necessity of such trainings,"

notes Doniyor Kuchkarov, Project Manager at the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan.

Delivered in Tashkent, Ferghana, and Samarkand by experienced international and EU trainers, these one-day trainings equipped CSOs with essential tools to enhance their project design and management, promote gender inclusivity, and strengthen monitoring and accountability, enabling them to lead their initiatives more effectively. Building upon their prior project management experience, training participants deepened their understanding of Logical Framework Analysis (LFA) and Theory of Change (ToC) -some of the key methodologies for strategic planning and adapting to dynamic environments. The gender responsiveness component equipped participants to design inclusive initiatives, ensuring that their projects address the diverse needs of the communities they serve.

The civil society organizations that benefited from the training included both local organizations working directly with targeted communities and national-level organizations representing a range of sectors vital to Uzbekistan's development, including social protection, education, capacity building, women's rights and gender equality, health and disability advocacy, youth development, civil society development, media and freedom of speech, with a few also focusing on environmental protection, sustainability, agriculture, and innovation.
