Mecklenburg County man charged with insurance fraud

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced today the arrest of Kevin Abron Wade, 53, of 12514 Rolling Rock Court, Charlotte, NC. Wade was charged with one count of insurance fraud which is a felony.

According to special agents with the NC Department of Insurance's Criminal Investigations Division, Wade attempted to defraud Minnesota Life Insurance Company by forging an agent's name to receive a disability insurance policy.

According to the arrest warrant, the offenses occurred on Aug. 15, 2023.

Wade was arrested on July 22. He is ordered to appear in Mecklenburg County Court on July 24.

"Insurance fraud hits consumers in the wallet," Commissioner Causey said. "Approximately 20 cents of every insurance premium dollar go towards covering the cost of fraud. I'm fighting this by aggressively pursuing and prosecuting insurance fraud in North Carolina."
