Donors share why they give leading up to UWL's annual giving day

As UW-La Crosse prepares for its annual university-wide giving day, One Day for UW L, donors share why they give back.

"I like to invest in what I believe in. I really do believe in the transformative impact of higher education," says Psychology Professor Ryan McKelley. "I wouldn't have been able to afford college without scholarships and grants, so for me, it's an opportunity to pay it forward and help support other students."

Slated for October 15-16, this year's One Day for UWL will highlight the transformative power of higher education and the donors who make that experience possible for so many students.

Like McKelley, Alumna Neva Moga, '97, participates in One Day to ensure that scholarships are available for students in need - something she once benefited from.

"I am proud to give back and help relieve the burden for students who may need it to attend this university and have experiences like I had," Moga notes, emphasizing the importance of both academic and leadership opportunities during her time at UWL.

The excitement surrounding UWL's day of giving creates a vibrant and fun atmosphere while making it easy for donors to support the areas of campus they care about most. With over 250 designated funds, contributors can allocate their gifts according to their passions.

"I love the simplicity of the One Day process. You can easily distribute your funds wherever you want them to go," says Dave Skogen, a devoted donor and advocate for educational causes in the community.
