The City of Fort Worth Marshal Division Lake Patrol is taking a zero-tolerance stance on the possession of alcohol at city parks at Lake Worth.

Why it's important: Due to a recent rise in alcohol possession violations at the park, the Lake Patrol will conduct a high-visibility enforcement program to address alcohol violations through concentrated patrols. Realizing that alcohol use is a leading factor in boating and water-related injuries, including drowning, the goal is to create a safe environment that everyone can enjoy at Lake Worth.

Zooming in: City of Fort Worth Ordinance 24-17 states that it is unlawful for any person to knowingly or willfully sell or possess alcohol within any area of a park, playground or athletic field designated by the Park & Recreation director. These areas have been designated with signage indicating prohibition of alcohol consumption, sale or possession.

Watch for: Signage will be posted to advise park guests that possessing alcohol is illegal in parks and may result in a fine up to $500.

Learn more: Fireworks are illegal in Fort Worth. See all the ways to report illegal fireworks.
