State Department of Transportation to Host Public Information Meeting in the Town of Martinsburg, Lewis County

Public May View Plans for Proposed Rehabilitation of State Route 26 Bridge Over Roaring Brook on July 30 at the Town of Martinsburg Municipal Offices

The New York State Department of Transportation will be hosting an open house and public information meeting on Tuesday evening, July 30. The meeting will discuss the proposed bridge rehabilitation project on State Route 26 over Roaring Brook in the Town of Martinsburg, Lewis County.
The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Town of Martinsburg Municipal Offices located at 5405 Cemetery Road in Martinsburg. The open house will begin at 6 p.m. with a brief presentation and overview of the proposed project starting at 6:30 p.m. The informal open house will continue until 8 p.m. with Department representatives on hand to answer questions about the proposed project.
The bridge, built in 1978, carries State Route 26 over Roaring Brook, taking travelers into downtown Martinsburg, as well as North to Lowville and South to Turin. The rehabilitation project proposes to replace the bridge superstructure and perform minor highway reconstruction on the approaches.
It will be necessary to close the bridge during construction. Traffic will be maintained using an off-site detour while the work is being completed. The project is expected to begin in the spring of 2025 and be completed later that year.
