Fort Worth Police line of duty death

The Fort Worth Police Department is grieving the loss of an officer who died in the line of duty on the morning of Aug. 12.
Sgt. Billy Randolph, #2797 died while working an accident scene.
He was working a motor vehicle accident on I-35 southbound near Sycamore School Road. During the course of the cleanup and investigation, Sgt. Randolph was standing outside his vehicle when a vehicle drove through the accident scene and struck him. The driver of that vehicle is in police custody.
Randolph was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment, where he died from his injuries. The details of this investigation are preliminary.
Randolph was a father, husband, brother, son and friend.
The Fort Worth Police Department asks everyone to keep the family and friends of Sgt. Randolph in their prayers along with our Fort Worth PD family.
Sgt. Randolph served the community of the City of Fort Worth with the Fort Worth Police Department for 29 years, last assigned to South Patrol.
More details will be released when they become available.
A media staging area is set up at JPS Hospital at the pavilion garden where the news conference will be held at approximately 10 a.m. Parking is available along St. Joseph Court.
The procession from JPS Hospital to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Officer will begin at 11 a.m.
