Rural Water Disaster Response to Hurricane Helene

State Rural Water Associations are responding after Hurricane Helene made landfall on September 26, 2024 as a Category 4 storm. These include State Associations from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Helene caused significant damages, and Rural Water is there helping to provide generators, bring systems back online, and more.

The National Rural Water Association's (NRWA) Disaster Response Unit arrived in Georgia on September 30 as an additional resource for those responding.

Many systems are dealing with power outages and flood damage from the storm, along with other challenges.

If your water or wastewater utility needs assistance, please contact your State Rural Water Association.
