In the News: College of Medicine students run for research

College of Medicine students Hunter Bonfiglio, Alex Keith and Nick Sciarretti will participate in the 75-mile Tuscazoar Endurance Race on Saturday, Aug. 31, in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The aspiring physicians are running to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson's disease research at NEOMED.

The three students shared their story with the Record-Courier.

In the article, the students noted the importance of balancing their studies with physical and mental fitness.

They were inspired to participate in the endurance race by clinical faculty member Sara Whittingham, M.D., who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and has participated in multiple marathons and triathlons.

"She is a profound source of inspiration for me, my colleagues and the entire NEOMED community, and we often refer to her as a 'real-life superhero,'" Bonfiglio said in the article.
