PM RABUKA COMISSIONS MAJOR INFRUCTRUCTURE...

Prime Minister Hon Sitiveni Rabuka this morning commissioned three landmark projects for the Fiji Ports Terminal Limited at the Lautoka port.

These projects will enhance operational efficiency, sustainability and border security at one of Fiji's key maritime gateways.

These projects are also part of the government's larger initiative under the 'Transformational Strategic Thrusts" policy to enhance critical infrastructure which reflects the nations commitment to sustainable economic growth.

The commissioned projects included maintenance dredging, covering an area of 63,624 square meters which will ensure that Lautoka port can maintain its dept and navigability, crucial for accommodating larger ships.

The other projects include the construction of a container yard and a pilot boat project named "Louvaju". The new pilot boat will enhance the ports maritime control and border security with the ability to operate beyond port boundaries.

During the commissioning ceremony, Prime Minister Rabuka emphasized the importance of these developments in Fijis broader strategic vision.

"These are very important, when you look at developing Fiji as a shipment and cargo hub on the region handling cargo and shipping coming in from Asia and from America for redistribution, it is a very important day."

"For us in Fiji its very it's very important because the volume of traffic coming in from both east and west will have to be broken down into island territory siders."
