It all adds up to meet the mission

Aug 21, 2024

By the numbers … With a new school year and a return to lessons, GRDA is adding up some numbers to reflect how they help to meet the mission for Oklahoma.

With schools back in session and students all across the region once again studying reading, writing and arithmetic, we thought it would be a suitable time to write about a few numbers of our own. As you read them, we do hope you can see how the many facets of the Grand River Dam Authority mission add up to great benefits for the state of Oklahoma.

15: That is the number of Oklahoma communities that receive their wholesale electricity supply from GRDA.

10: That is how many of these communities have been purchasing their electricity from GRDA for more than 70 years.

11: In millions of dollars, which is the approximate amount of money GRDA spends in a single year on government services, related to its lakes (lake patrols, water monitoring, ecological operations, economic development). And it is all done at no cost to Oklahoma taxpayers.

84: That is how many years GRDA has been producing renewable energy with Oklahoma's first hydroelectric facility, Pensacola Dam.

1,200: That is the approximate number of miles of high voltage transmission lines that GRDA maintains and operates to deliver abundant, reliable electricity to customers across a four-state region.

Finally, 5: That stands for GRDA's "5 E's of Excellence Mission." That mission focuses on employees, electricity, economic development, environmental stewardship, and efficiency. Hopefully, all these previous numbers help to illustrate how GRDA is working towards this 5E goal every day.
