Shapiro Administration Announces Reopening of Route 14 in Trout Run, Lycoming County

09/03/2024

Lewis Township, PA - At an event today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), along with local officials and industry partners, announced that Route 14 isopen to traffic in Trout Run, Lewis Township, Lycoming County. Motorists will use a temporary roadway that connects to Lycoming Creek Road (Route 1017), bypassing the damaged bridge, until the bridge is replaced.

Route 14 has been closed between Route 15 and Trout Run Mountain Road (Route 1002) since August 9 after severe flooding caused extensive flood damage to the bridge over Trout Run.

"Opening Route 14 as quickly as possible was a top priority for PennDOT and Governor Shapiro," said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. "Our next priority is to replace the bridge. We are working to accelerate work on this project and anticipate the bridge to be completed by next fall."

A detour using Trout Run Mountain Road (Route 1002), Lycoming Creek Road, and Beauty's Run Road (Route 3026) was put into place during the recovery process.

"We appreciate the public's patience and understanding through this process," said PennDOT District 3 Executive Eric High. "We thank the department forces, bridge inspectors, consultants, Rylind Construction, and HRI, Inc. and all involved in inspecting, designing and constructing this temporary roadway so we can get Route 14 open."
