Geisinger hospitals awarded gold, platinum statuses for promoting a culture of health through food
DANVILLE, Pa. - Geisinger participates in Good Food, Healthy Hospitals (GFHH), a statewide initiative funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to promote health and wellness in health care settings. In September, all Geisinger hospitals were awarded at the gold and platinum levels for achieving and maintaining food, beverage and procurement standards and for their innovative approaches to patient meals and staff wellness throughout its hospitals.

Geisinger joined the GFHH in 2019 and pledged its commitment to the health and wellness of patients, visitors, staff and the community by providing access, options and education about good food choices.
Good Food, Healthy Hospitals brings together health care institutions to promote wellness through food. To date, 63 hospitals representing 11 health systems in 27 counties across the Commonwealth are implementing food service guidelines to support healthier and more sustainable food and beverage options to their community. Expansion is continuing with funding by the Pennsylvania Department of Health through the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant from the CDC.
