Matt Shepanek of ASE Featured on EV Panel at AAPEX

Leesburg, Virginia 10/10/2024

Matt Shepanek, vice president of credential testing for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), will be a featured presenter on a panel during AAPEX entitled "EV Repairs: Where do I even start?"

The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 9:30 a.m. PT on the EV experience stage in Joe's Garage, which is in the Venetian Expo on level 1 (booth J7214).

Shepanek, along with an EV expert from JohnDow Industries, will discuss how more electric vehicles are starting to make their way into independent repair shops for service, and if the shop is in an EV-dense area, shop owners and managers need to start thinking about how to prepare their shop for these new customers. The panel will discuss what equipment is needed to get started and what training their staff will need.

Stepanek will also discuss ASE xEV safety standards and testing. He will cover how shops can limit their liability and risk by being certified in the proper handling of electric and hybrid vehicles, develop and maintain a safe work environment, and reinforce safe workplace practices for those who work on or around electric and hybrid vehicles. He will also emphasize how displaying ASE xEV credentials and certifications conveys the professionalism, knowledge and skills of service professionals.
