Bomb Threats – Investigation

Released: August 22, 2024 at 11:07 a.m.

On August 21, 2024, the RCMP provided a national precautionary statement regarding threatening emails sent from an unknown source to many institutions, including Synagogues across Canada.

Locally, the Winnipeg Police Service received several reports from Jewish organizations that had received similar emails or expressed concern for the situation.

Police attended these locations and deemed no public risk.

The threats were consistent with widespread national threats.

Through coordinated efforts by the Hate Crimes Coordinator and the RCMP, this investigation is continuing. Anyone with information or concerns can call the Hate Crimes Coordinator at 204-986-6219 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org
