Representatives from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA), the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction, Bismarck Public Schools and the North Dakota Corn Council will visit seven Bismarck elementary schools during the week to educate youth on North Dakota agriculture and corn.<_o3a_p>

Students and fans are invited to participate in the Friday night football game crunch off, which is a competition held during October 2024 among seven states to see who can get the most crunches into a piece of locally grown produce, per capita. The North Dakota Corn Council will be handing out free corn nuts to fans and the massive crunch off will be held at half time.<_o3a_p>

"North Dakota is ranked 11th in corn for grain production in the United States, producing more than 540 million bushels in 2023," Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. "Corn for grain is processed into many products such as cereal, alcohol, sweeteners, ethanol and byproduct feeds."<_o3a_p>

October is Farm to School month nationwide. <_o3a_p>
