Amplifying Europe's Digital and Green Transformation

At Huawei Connect Europe 2024 in Paris, Huawei Rotating Chairman Ken Hu explained Huawei's commitment to helping enable Europe's digital and green transformation.

Over the past few years, we have seen incredible progress in digital and green technologies.

5G-Advanced is ready for deployment, generative AI is advancing fast, and renewable energy is more accessible and efficient than ever.

In Europe, we are also seeing increased investment in AI and computing technologies. And the EU is leading the way with AI and data governance.

Together, these trends will greatly accelerate digitalization, intelligent transformation, and decarbonization across Europe. At Huawei, our goal is to help our customers make the most of these trends through our heavy investment in innovation, for domains like networking, storage, computing, cloud, and energy.

Supporting Europe's Green and Digital Transition

Huawei has been working side-by-side with our European customers and partners for more than 20 years. Working together, we've helped connect more than one-third of Europe's population with high-speed broadband networks - including many people in remote and under-connected communities. To better support Europe's green and digital transition - and drive local innovation - we have built up local supply, manufacturing, and joint innovation centers across the continent.

In the digital transformation space, we work with more than 5,000 local partners to develop ICT solutions for different industries. For example:

In tourism, we're helping to connect historic buildings like castles and chateaus with high-speed broadband, without harming the look, feel, and structure of those buildings.

In education, we're helping schools provide a better online learning experience with more reliable and affordable campus networks.

In healthcare, we're helping doctors use AI for more efficient and accurate diagnosis. It's good for patients, and helpful for doctors.

As for green development, we're innovating nonstop in green technologies. Our goal is to help European industries shrink their carbon footprint and increase the efficiency of renewable energy.

For network operators, we are greatly improving the energy efficiency of ICT infrastructure, especially for mobile sites.

For businesses and consumers, our PV and smart storage solutions are providing everyday people with safe and efficient solar energy.

By the end of last year, we helped European communities generate more than 200 billion kilowatts of clean energy, cutting carbon emissions by 140 million tons. That's like planting 180 million new trees.

To support long-term sustainability in the industry, five years ago we launched a digital inclusion initiative called TECH4ALL. One of our core focuses is education. Through partnerships with universities and NGOs across Europe, we've equipped more than 80,000 people with new digital skills. In France alone, our mobile DigiTruck classrooms have provided digital training for more than 6,000 people in remote and rural communities.

Together, we have made great progress connecting people, empowering businesses, and building a more sustainable ecosystem in Europe. But we still have some work to do.

As always, Huawei is in Europe, for Europe. And we look forward to working more closely with you for a greener, more intelligent future.
