Filing period opens for City Council elections
The filing period for the Nov. 5 General Election opened July 15, and to run for Del Mar City Council, eligible candidates must file nomination papers with the Administrative Services Manager/City Clerk before 4:30 p.m. Aug. 9.
If an incumbent office holder does not file papers to seek reelection, the filing deadline will extend to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 14.
On Nov. 5, Del Mar voters will vote to fill three seats that are due to expire. The seats are now held by Mayor Dave Druker and Councilmembers Dan Quirk and Tracy Martinez.
City Councilmembers serve four-year terms.
