49 projects to receive funding

On Monday 3 June, Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Cabinet agreed to fund 49 projects across the whole District as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).

The projects have been awarded a total of £1,162,900.

Cllr George Cowcher, Planning and Economic Development Portfolio said: "We are pleased to be able to help a number of small businesses and organisations from across the whole of the District. This funding will have a really positive impact on a great mix of projects supporting our communities and businesses, helping to attract new jobs and investment."

Letters advising the successful applicants are being sent out this week from the District Council.

Funding for improvements to town centres and high streets

Southam Town Council Refresh street furniture with "lite" branding in Southam retail centre, for a more attractive visitor environment and sense of place.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council To install footfall counting cameras and associated "smart" data capabilities in order to measure visitor numbers to drive more footfall to the town centre to support healthy business vibrancy and avoid empty shops. £4,999 capital

Studley Parish Council Installation of a PV Solar system including the panels, inverters, batteries, all to be fully integrated with the existing facilities. £24,500
Arts Rising Collective, Stratford on Avon (ARC) Set up an Arts Hub with studio spaces, exhibition space and a space for art classes, to enhance the offer of arts to the local community in and around Stratford-upon-Avon. £2,500
Alcester Town Council A pilot scheme encouraging rural business diversity through collaborative innovation projects, peer to peer networking with businesses and around skills which benefit businesses and residents in and around Alcester. £25,757
1st Harbury Scout & Guide Group Alterations to existing entrance to improve DDA toilet facilities and provide separate meeting room as breakout/additional hire space. £45,000

Ilmington Parish Council A height restriction barrier will be installed to prevent unauthorized vehicles from accessing the village playing fields and car park. £4,850
Campaigns to encourage visits and exploring of local area
Paint Stratford A new event bringing high quality murals to Stratford-upon-Avon from established and emerging street artists, plus community engagement strands. £5,000
Escape Arts 9-month Creative Health Artist Residency, co-creating participatory workshops leading to innovative heritage trail celebrating people and place across the town encouraging inclusive communities and improving wellbeing capturing local voices and untold stories. £19,900
Friends of Stratford Shopmobility The project is to seek funding to improve the equipment and therefore the offer to tourists/visitors/ residents seeking to access the service. £25,100
Impactful volunteering and/or social action projects
Stour Health and Wellbeing Partnership Project support to enable the Stour Health and Wellbeing Partnership to have more impact on social and human capital, as part of Growing the Future project, seeking other support from the Lottery. £10,500
Stratford Time Bank The project uses timebanking to continue the development of community links and volunteering activity in Upper Lighthorne and Lighthorne Heath. £5,700
The Hub at Henley Additional staff to support new youth session plus prevention of existing session closures due to lack of staff. £7,439

Avon Valley Indoor Bowls Club "Bowls for Health" coaching programme - to reach out to potential new bowlers in the surrounding area and to provide a bowling experience in support of physical mental health and isolation. £4,320
Tanworth-in-Arden Tennis Club Resurfacing 2 courts, addressing root damage and drainage, in order to ensure the viability of the club within the community as the only sports facility in the village. £25,000

Meon Vale and Quinton Cricket Club New community cricket club, forming new cricket teams for all ages, gender and ability - equipment to support and maintain the new cricket pitch. £20,000
Volunteer It Yourself VIY challenges young people who are NEETS between the ages of 16-24 to develop vocational skills by volunteering to help refurbish local community facilities that host and provide valued services and activities and materials to undertake the work, supporting Wellesbourne and Exhall and Wixford facilities. £22,600 capital
