Prompted by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, tomorrow the Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, will inaugurate the new Consulate General of Italy in Madrid, established within the framework of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' efforts to strengthen its network of embassies and consulates.
"The new Consulate General in Madrid will allow us to further increase the presence of Italian Embassies and Consulates around the world, bringing us ever closer to our Italian compatriots abroad and providing them with more efficient services," commented Minister Tajani, recalling how the Italian community in the Spanish capital has grown exponentially in recent years, as has the number of tourists, for whom "the new Consulate will become a reference point on which they can always rely," concluded the Minister.
The new Consulate General will exercise its jurisdiction over approximately 124,000 resident Italian nationals, who are growing at a rate of about 1,000 per month, crowning a period of major growth in relations between Italian and Spanish citizens from a social, cultural, economic, and scientific point of view.
The opening ceremony will be attended not only by the Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Guariglia, but also by the Ambassador of Italy in Madrid, Giuseppe Maria Buccino Grimaldi, and the Consul General of Italy in Madrid, Spartaco Caldararo, together with representatives of the Italian community and local authorities.
