Chris Braswell is the Director of IT at CVM, where he oversees IT operations, including both instructional and research technology. In collaboration with CCIT, Braswell ensures the seamless integration and functionality of all technological systems within the college.

"The mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) deeply resonates with me, both professionally and personally," said Braswell. "As the Director of IT, I am passionate about using technology to make a positive impact, and CVM provides a unique opportunity to do so in the field of veterinary medicine. Additionally, my daughter's aspiration to become a veterinarian has given me a personal connection to the veterinary field. But most of all, the team here truly enjoys their role and treats everyone as family. I know it sounds cliché; however, CVM's team quickly becomes a group of friends rather than just coworkers."

As the inaugural Director of IT, he is excited about integrating advanced technology solutions with the CVM workflow to enhance the student experience and improve veterinary care.

"Collaborating with faculty, students, and staff to identify and implement these solutions will be incredibly rewarding," said Braswell. "I am particularly looking forward to building systems that can support the college's mission and exploring new ways to use technology to benefit both practitioners, animals, and students."

In 2009, Braswell earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Lander University. Since then, he has built a diverse career spanning both higher education and healthcare sectors. His extensive experience includes classroom technology, data center management, data communications, and healthcare technology. He hopes to use his experience to make a meaningful impact on the CVM by designing and implementing systems to create efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

"By leveraging my expertise in technology, I hope to introduce innovative tools that can support the training of future veterinarians. This includes improving data management, facilitating better communication, and providing robust support for research initiatives. I am motivated by the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of animals and the professionals who care for them, and being a part of CVM allows me to do just that."

Outside of his professional life, Braswell enjoys kayaking, camping, and hiking with his wife, Jessica, their daughter, Elayna, and dog, Enzo (pictured below). These outdoor activities provide a perfect balance to his tech-focused career, allowing him to unwind and connect with nature.
