Nearly All DMACC Nursing Students Pass the National Council Licensure Examination

Ninety-seven percent of DMACC Associate Degree Nurses Districtwide Passed the Exam in the Second Quarter of 2024

DMACC Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) students and Practical Nursing students have success in passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX®) for the second quarter of 2024, which is for April, May and June of 2024.

Of the 76 DMACC ADN students who took the exam in the second quarter, 74 or 97.4 percent passed the exam on their first try. In addition, both Practical Nursing students who took the exam in the second quarter successfully passed it the first attempt.

"The hard work, dedication and commitment to student success across the district is shown in the outcomes of our graduates!," said DMACC Director of Nursing Education Dr. Natalia Thilges. "These newly licensed nurses will make a tremendous impact to the growing nursing demands."

The NCLEX is a nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States, Canada, and Australia since 1982, 2015, and 2020, respectively. There are two types: the NCLEX-RN and the NCLEX-PN. After graduating from a school of nursing, one takes the NCLEX exam to receive a nursing license.

"This nearly 100 percent pass rate for our nursing graduates demonstrates the quality of instruction and excellence of DMACC's nursing program. It also sets us apart from many other institutions," said Dr. Jeanie McCarville, Executive Academic Dean of Health and Public Services. "As a result of our successful program, DMACC nursing graduates are in high demand. Nursing is a very rewarding career with many paths to serve our communities," she added.

This fall more than 400 students are enrolled in DMACC's nursing program located on five campuses. There are still nursing seats available at the DMACC Carroll Campus with a standby list for other DMACC locations. Classes start on August 21.
