The Allstate Foundation Partners With National Association of Secondary School Principals to Empower Student Leaders Across the Country

Reston, VA - The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) is proud to announce a new partnership with The Allstate Foundation that will expand its student leadership programs. A $700,000 grant from The Allstate Foundation will fund four youth-led initiatives, including the expansion of NASSP's flagship National Student Council (NSC) program.

As part of this partnership, 25 new student representatives from 25 different states and territories today joined the National Student Council, an assembly of student leaders advocating for their peers at the federal level. This program ensures that students' voices are amplified in national discussions on policies affecting their education and future.

"These 25 new student leaders are nothing short of phenomenal," said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. "Their passion, vision and dedication to amplifying the voices of their peers at the federal level are truly inspiring. We eagerly look forward to the incredible work they will do to advocate for real change in education policy alongside NASSP's dedicated network of principals and educators. The Allstate Foundation's commitment to youth-led service aligns perfectly with NASSP's mission, and we are thrilled to have found a partner who shares our values and dedication to raising the next generation of courageous American leaders. Together, we're empowering students to not only lead their schools but to shape the future of our nation."

The $700,000 grant will fund four of NASSP's youth-focused initiatives:

  1. National Student Council (NSC): The grant will support the newly expanded Council's efforts to advocate for federal policies directly impacting students.
  2. NASC Scholarship: The grant will provide $100,000 in scholarships for high school juniors and seniors involved in student council, supporting the next chapter of their leadership journey.
  3. NASSP Student Service Grant Program: $100,000 will be allocated to youth-led service projects addressing community needs, with grants ranging from $200 to $1,000.
  4. National Student Leadership Week (NSLW): The grant will support this annual celebration of student leaders, hosted every April, which empowers young leaders and highlights their contributions to their schools, communities and beyond.

Greg Weatherford II, Youth Empowerment Program Officer at The Allstate Foundation, expressed excitement for the partnership: "The Allstate Foundation is proud to support NASSP's student leadership programs, which play a crucial role in equipping young people with the tools they need to serve their communities. We believe in the power of youth-led service and hope this partnership empowers more students to become changemakers in their communities."

The 25 newly appointed representatives will join 10 elected student officers in leading the Council, forming a powerful advocacy group that ensures student voices are front and center in conversations about education policy. This diverse group of young leaders will work with NASSP to shape leadership initiatives and empower their peers to take action in their schools and communities.
