Tatuapé Cranes expands fleet and service capabilities with Grove GMK6450-1

Since arriving at Tatuapé Cranes headquarters in São Paulo, a new Grove GMK6450-1 crane has been in constant use. The crane was utilized on key projects such as maintenance at an oil refinery, expansion of São Paulo's Line 2 subway, and lifting beams on the Presidente Dutra Highway. Most recently, it was employed at a steel plant in Rio de Janeiro.

The team at Tatuapé values the GMK6450-1's versatility and the range of projects it supports. After thorough market research, the company chose the 450 t-capacity crane to meet the rising demand for stronger cranes in Brazil's industrial and infrastructure sectors.

The GMK6450-1 stands out for its impressive lifting capacity on its 60 m main boom. Andrade highlighted Manitowoc's MegaWingLift™ self-rigging boom attachment, which can boost the crane's capacity by up to 60%. When working with the 79 m luffing jib, the maximum tip height reaches 136 m, and when paired with the MegaWingLift™, lifting capacity can then be increased by up to 400%. This attachment can be rigged in under 20 minutes without an assist crane. Advanced features like the Grove CONNECT™ fleet management system and the engine's fuel saver mode also influenced their buying decision.
