Lifepoint Rehabilitation and Texas Health Resources announce agreement to open new inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. and ARLINGTON, Texas - Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health, and Texas Health Resources announced today that they have entered into a joint venture partnership to operate a new stand-alone, inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Plano, Texas that is expected to open in 2026. This will be the partners' fourth inpatient rehabilitation hospital serving Dallas-Fort Worth.

The new stand-alone facility will provide inpatient rehabilitation services for adults who have experienced a loss of function or disability due to stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurological disorders, orthopedic surgery, amputation and other conditions. With 40 private rooms, it will expand access to inpatient rehabilitation care in Collin County, addressing a growing regional need.

"Texas Health is pleased to further expand our collaboration with Lifepoint to increase access to rehabilitation services in the community of Plano," said DeShon Woods, vice president, Ambulatory Strategic Partnership Operations for Texas Health. "Texas Health is honored to be part of improving the quality of life and independence to those who have suffered devastating illness and injuries."

The rehabilitation hospital will be located at the current site of Wellbridge Greater Dallas, a behavioral health hospital operated by Lifepoint Behavioral Health, following renovations that will best meet the needs of future rehabilitation patients. The behavioral health services provided at the Wellbridge Greater Dallas location today and current team members will transition in the coming weeks to sister hospitals Collin Springs and Carrollton Springs, which are located nearby in the Metroplex. Both the Collin Springs and Carrollton Springs locations are well-equipped to continue providing comprehensive behavioral health services to the community.

"It has long been our goal to advance access to diverse specialty care throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex," said Russ Bailey, President of Lifepoint Rehabilitation and Lifepoint Behavioral Health. "When we opened Collin Springs, our newest behavioral health hospital, we knew we were well-positioned to serve our behavioral health patients in the region now and in the years to come. And now, through our partnership with Texas Health Resources, we will be able to serve rehabilitation patients on a more meaningful scale across the Metroplex. Through investment in leading technology and the implementation of our evidence-driven care model, we will reach more patients with vitally needed specialty care right here in Dallas."

Pending customary regulatory approvals, construction for the new inpatient rehabilitation hospital is expected to begin in early 2025 with an expected opening in 2026.

Current locations include Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth and Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Keller, both owned by the partners, and Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington, jointly owned by Texas Health Resources, Methodist Health System and Lifepoint Rehabilitation.
