TRAFFIC ALERT New Castle County SR 896 Overnight Closures
SR 896 - ; Overnight Closures
Newark - The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that from Monday September 9 through Thursday September 12, 2024 (weather permitting) northbound and southbound SR 896 between the I-95 Interchange and Chestnut Hill Road will be closed overnight to through traffic for steel girder installation. The southbound I-95 to SR 896 northbound and southbound ramps will be closed overnight. The southbound SR 896 to northbound I-95 on-ramp will also be closed overnight. The northbound SR 896 to northbound I-95 ramp will remain open. Additional lane and turn lane closures will be in effect on both northbound and southbound SR 896 approaching the closure and along the detour routes during this time.
Detours will be posted to route motorists to and from SR 896 to I-95.
Motorists traveling southbound on I-95 will be directed to exit at SR 1 or SR 273 to get to SR 896.
The public is encouraged to visit the project website 95896improvements.com to sign up for text/email alerts regarding construction-related closures.
