Washington, D.C. - National Governors Association (NGA) Public Health and Disaster Response Task Force Co-Chairs Hawaii Governor Josh Green and Vermont Governor Phil Scott issued a statement today urging Congress to approve comprehensive disaster relief funding:
"As co-chairs of the National Governors Association Public Health and Disaster Response Task Force, we urge Congress to pass a comprehensive disaster relief package and appropriate sufficient funding to critical federal programs needed for recovery efforts.
"States request that Congress fully fund or expand: the Disaster Relief Fund, Community Development Block Grant Disaster and Mitigation programs, USDA Disaster Assistance, and Federal Highway Emergency Relief. We also request passage of the Disaster Management Costs Modernization Act.
"Passage of a comprehensive disaster relief package ensures states, local governments, and communities can continue to lead America's key recovery efforts without barriers or delay."
