Reports

Council gave first reading to Bylaw C-1475, the Maskwa Medical Center Borrowing Bylaw and Bylaw C-1476, the Maskwa Medical Center Lending Bylaw.

Board Appointments

Council appointed Bobbi Dawson as Chair of the Grande Prairie Airport Commission for a term ending December 31, 2024. Council appointed Councillor Leanne Beaupre as the County of Grande Prairie representative for the Grande Prairie Public Library Board, effective January 1, 2024 to October 30, 2025.

Committee Business

Council received the 2025-2026 Strategic Priorities Progress Update for the First Quarter of 2024 for information.

Council directed Administration to negotiate and execute a lease with the telecom company with terms and conditions satisfactory to the City Solicitor and City Manager. The proposed cellular tower meets the provisions of Section 54 of the City's Land Use Bylaw C-1260.

Public Hearings

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1260-181, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw. The proposed amendments include increased public notification to give residents more opportunity for input on cell tower placement and emphasize Council's preference for towers with less visual impact in sensitive areas to maintain the City's aesthetics.

Council gave three readings on the Land Use Bylaw C-1260-182, as amended. The proposed amendments revise the driveway and vehicular access requirements, especially for residential sites with direct vehicle access from the site onto arterial roads, to enhance vehicle and pedestrian safety along our arterial roads.
