Med9 Summit: President Meloni meets with King Abdullah II of Jordan

In the margins of today's Med9 Summit in Paphos, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met with King Abdullah II of Jordan.

As well as discussing how to further strengthen the already excellent bilateral relations, trade volumes and investments, the meeting focused on the joint work to provide humanitarian support to the people worst affected by the Middle East crisis, and in particular refugees.

In this regard, King Abdullah II presented Jordan's plan for a 'Gaza humanitarian gateway', aimed at overcoming the bottlenecks that keep slowing down the distribution of aid. President Meloni assured him of Italy's support for the new Jordanian initiative, also building on the existing cooperation as part of the Italian 'Food for Gaza' initiative.

Lastly, the President of the Council of Ministers accepted King Abdullah II's invitation to visit the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan soon.
