Dublin City Council organises free events for Culture Night

Dublin City Council is pleased to announce a selection of its programme of free events for Culture Night 2024, which takes place on Friday, 20th September.

A series of specially curated events will see some of the city's most iconic public spaces transformed into vibrant venues for dazzling open-air performances.

This year sees the introduction of 'Nocturnal Beats Culture Night Late Venue Trail' with Dynamic Venues, anexciting new addition to the Culture Night programme which extends the festivities into the late hours, spotlighting the city's vibrant cultural and electronic music scene. The event takes participants on a curated journey through seven distinct venues, each offering a unique slice of Dublin's dynamic nightlife.

Meeting House Square will be buzzing with a diverse range of events for all ages to enjoy, including live music, dance, Mexican mariachi music, and a performance from JYellowL an RTÉ Choice Music Prize nominated artist who has been consistently paving the way in Irish hip-hop over the past number of years.

The Wood Quay Amphitheatre will play host to various events such as Seisiún Palaistíneach, a unique event that blends the soulful strains of traditional Irish music with the rich, evocative sounds of Palestinian melodies. Experience the magic of Yalla Belly Dance! Prepare to be captivated as dancers bring the stage to life with vibrant colours and intricate costumes.

There will be a family friendly, car-free 5km bike disco around the Phoenix Park!Why not come and see where the Lord Mayor of Dublin lives and works? The Mansion House will be open from 5pm - 9.30pm for self-guided tours. Staff will be on hand to assist.

Celebrate Culture Night with a street party on Moore Street from 6pm - 11pm. Featuring Afro-Irish music and dance plus a late-night food and craft market. There will be live music by Yankari Afrobeat Collective, a groovy and energetic sound reminiscent of the Afrobeat greats of the 60s and 70s with a modern twist. Sample Nigerian street food, Brazilian churros, Romanian BBQ, Asian dumplings, Polish honey and flatbread, as well as Indian leather goods, Turkish perfumes, Ecuadorian jewellery, Peruvian trinkets, Nigerian clothing and much more. The Moore Street food and craft market is run weekly by Dublin City Council.

The Hugh Lane Gallery is open from 5pm -10pm so drop in for an evening of artist-led workshops, expert guided tours, pop up talks, music and more! There will be musicians and spoken word artist performing throughout the evening.

The LAB Gallery welcomes visitors to view the new exhibition 'Swimming a Long Way Together' by Vanessa Daws, curated by Rosie Hermon. There will also be an artist and curator walk-through starting at 5pm.

City Hall will have a full evening of entertainment from 6pm. Visitors can take in concerts from an eclectic mix of musical genres, plus stunning dance performances performed by some of Dublin's most talented local artists showcasing the richness and diversity of our cultural traditions. The council chamber will also be open to the public on the night.
