Monroe County Executive Adam Bello Announces Recycling Education Road Show At Local Farmers Markets

Road show takes place during National Farmers Market Week

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello today announced that Monroe County will celebrate National Farmers Market Week by offering recycling education programs at several local farm markets.

"Bringing our recycling education program to the community at local farmers markets and events allows us to connect with a wide array of Monroe County residents," said County Executive Bello. "By educating residents and providing updated information on what can and can't be recycled, we are continuing to be a leader in championing sustainability."

Bring your recycling questions to the market on the dates below and receive a free packable, reusable bag - perfect for market produce. Market dates and locations are as follows:

  • August 3 - Fairport Village Landing - 6:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

  • August 4 - Brockport Farmer's Market Street, Market Street - 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

  • August 6 - 19th Ward /St. Monica's Church, 831 Genesee St. - 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

  • August 8 - Irondequoit Town Campus, 1280 Titus Ave. - 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

  • August 10 - Webster Town Plaza, 1028 Ridge Rd. - 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Recycling education programs will also be making appearances at the following events:

  • July 25 - Mill Seat Landfill Open House - 3p.m.-7p.m.

  • July 27 & 28 - Spencerport Canal Days - 9a.m.-1p.m.

  • August 24 - Parcel 5 Veg Fest - 10a.m.-4p.m.

  • October 5 & 6 - Hilton Apple Festival, West Avenue - 10a.m.-5p.m.

In partnership with waste services company WM, Monroe County offers a 'one stop drop off' for residential recycling at the Ecopark, 10 Avion Drive, 14624. Ecopark is open from 1 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Due to road closures related to the Rochester International Airshow, ecopark will be closed on Saturday, August 3.
