Boston Heights Receives $885,000 from Ohio Demolition & Site Revitalization Program

COLUMBUS-State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield), in conjunction with State Senator Kristina Roegner, today announced that the Village of Boston Heights received $885,000 for the abatement and demolition project of the deteriorated Norwood Inn on Dean Memorial Parkway. The funds were awarded through the Ohio Demolition and Site Revitalization Program.

The Ohio General Assembly and Governor Mike DeWine developed the Program to create room for new economic opportunities in areas that cannot be developed due to contamination or vacant, dilapidated structures.

"While once a vibrant hotel, the Norwood Inn has become a blight on the Village of Boston Heights and other Northern Summit County Communities," said Roemer. "By tearing down the Norwood Inn, the area will be better prepared to welcome new businesses and opportunities to the site."

"As the gateway to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Village of Boston Heights is taking significant steps toward modernization and economic growth. The removal of this large, dilapidated hotel paves the way for new amenities and future development," said Ron Antal, Village of Boston Heights Mayor. "The partnership between Representative Roemer, Senator Roegner, and the Summit County Land Bank in making this progress possible is both remarkable and deeply appreciated."

Since the launch of the Ohio Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, more than $233 million in grants have been awarded to support over 5,000 demolition projects in every county in the state, highlighting the Program's significant impact and success.
